Making Aircraft Leak Detection Easier with the CTRL Systems UL101

One of the highlights of this partnership is the CTRL Systems UL101 Aviation Troubleshooter (P/N B00033).

For aviation maintenance technicians, tracking down a hard-to-find leak can sometimes feel like searching for a needle in a haystack. The UL101 helps simplify the process by detecting ultrasonic sound associated with leaks, allowing technicians to narrow down potential problem areas more efficiently.

The UL101 can support troubleshooting in several aircraft systems, including:

• Pitot-static systems: Can help determine whether there is an air leak into the system that could affect its overall operation.

• Cabin pressurization systems: This is an aid for the technician to find where air leaks are occurring.

• Bleed air systems: Supports the detection and isolation of suspected air leaks.

• Oxygen systems: Help Technicians Investigate Potential Leaks Using Maintenance Procedures

The UL101 can also be found in Boeing tool manuals as part of SPL-1473. As such, the UL101 will most likely be useful to those maintenance crews that work on the applicable Boeing aircraft.

The UL101 is able to provide technicians with a way to focus on where to begin their diagnosis process, which will result in more efficient maintenance and less wasted aircraft time.

Take Leak Detection Further with Acoustic Imaging Cameras

Finding a leak may sometimes require more than just listening. Seeing where the source of ultrasonic sound originates can enhance the effectiveness of diagnosing problems.

That's where CTRL Systems' acoustic imaging cameras come in.

These cameras create real-time visual images of ultrasonic sound so that maintenance teams can locate possible leaks throughout an aircraft's systems.

The CTRL Systems acoustic cameras meet or exceed all the technical specifications stated in Boeing's COM-18702 "Digital Camera – Acoustic" specification. These cameras will be provided as equivalent products, with each being approved through an operator tooling document and a quality review.

The acoustic camera allows a technician to scan an area and find possible leaks visually. The UL101 is then used to investigate further and isolate the exact fault.
