Laversab 6300 and 6600 — What is the Difference

The Laversab 6300-W and 6600-NG are pitot static testers, compliant with RVSM. The main difference between the two units is how many ports they have.

The 6300-W contains 2 ports, a Pitot and . This unit can be used for 2 channel testing of pitot static instruments including altimeters, airspeed and vertical speed. The unit can be used for leak and accuracy testing. This unit can be used with Wi-Fi (Model 131-0266). The unit can be used with batteries (6300-BW). It works up to 60,000 feet and 690 knots. You will also require hose kits, adaptors, multi output accessories.

The 6600-NG has 3 ports. Ps1, Pt & Ps2. The additional port gives the ability to simulate AoA and AoS with the use of a Smart Probe. This makes it perfect for testing aircraft such as E-Jets and Airbus A220 with Smart Probes. Even if you don’t require the extra port, this unit can be used for 2 channel pitot static testing. This unit can be supplied with Wi-Fi (131-0291), Battery operated (131-0290) and Encoder/Heater. Always check what model you have and what accessories are included.

Both units are RVSM compliant. They can have Wi-Fi or battery options. Depending on your aircraft and what testing you need to do. The 6300-W is best for pitot static testing. However, if you require 3 ports for pressure, then the 6600-NG would be best for you.

There are more models available. AvionTEq have the 6300, 6300L and 6300-M3 (Military). Laversab have the 6600-M4. Ensure whatever unit you get complies with the conditions you require and have the correct accessories.

For FAA regulations you must ensure you have a unit that can report altitude as per 14 CFR 91.411 & 91.413. General guidelines can be found within FAA AC 43-6D. The transponder will not be tested with an RVSM pitot tester. Ensure the unit is correctly calibrated.

When asking for a quote, make sure you know what you require. If you require 2 channel, purchase the 6300-W. If you require a port for AoA/AoS purchase the 6600-NG. Ensure you know what aircraft you will be using it on, what maintenance you will be carrying out, what options you require and what accessories. Ask if they have the unit in stock, what condition it is in and if it has been calibrated.
